To say the snow in Annupuri is amazing is an understatement. The region we are in regularly gets snowfalls in excess of 60cm. Every couple of weeks during the peak "Powder Deluxe" months, dumps of a meter are common. Coming straight off the icy Siberian plateau, the storms that dump snow on Annupuri are filled with the dry light stuff; so dry and light it's often hard to even make a snowball! The areas we ride vary from neck-deep super blower suited to total powder fiends, right through to fluffy groomers for learners to pick up the bug without the painful "go-downs". After many years riding here, we can safely say the worst day in Annupuri is still 10 times better than the best day in Australia! Compared to The Rocky Mountains in the US, the snow is dryer and generally deeper.
Several of the guests during the 11/12 season commented that had they known how good Annupuri was, they would have been coming years ago.
Our location also allows us access to several other tiny little-known resorts where it will often be us and a few locals riding untracked powder alone on weekdays. One resort does not even sell day passes- you simply pay each time you want to use the hooded double chairs. We can also traverse across to the fantastic resort of Moiwa to access some of the deep backcountry lines available there from January onwards.
One of the things that keeps our snow light and dry is the cold temperatures, so be ready to rug-up and don't forget your snorkel!
